A very grey day, but decided to go for the raft trip any way. A lovely guided drift along the river and then an enjoyable lunch with some music after.

Ice caves

In the tatras mountains there is a cave full of ice, like a river caught in time and we had 30 minutes to wander through this magical place

The icicles hang down to a river of ice.

Gardens and caves

The wildlife in this area is very varies and interesting. We haven,t seen many wild animals but the museum was great for seeing what is around in the parks here. The botanic gardens had alpine species all labeled so we might have an idea when we are walking.

There were also some lovely local Easter eggs and fabric patterns

The local limestone caverns are huge and we spent over an hour moving through them. Then a drive home with rain clouds gathering behind us.

Tomorrow to the top of the mountain.

Castles and wildlife

This morning was spent at Spis castle a HUGE castle standing on a rocky pinnacle above the town. It is also a wonderful place to watch the peregrine and a local sort of ground squirrel that is in the red book.

This evening we have another thunderstorm, if it brightens up we will go rafting tomorrow, otherwise to the caves.

Pobrad

The view from our room.

We have arrived in Slovakia after traveling from Krakov airport. I can't decide if being the only ones on our tour is good or bad, we are at a different hotel to the other group and feeling a bit abandoned at the moment. Sundays are very quiet and the museum we might have looked
round is closed.

The room and pension are wonderful, asparagus is in and they have a special menu.lunch was asparagus and sesame chicken salad.

Tomorrow it is off to Spis castle. With our own private guide and transport we should have a good day, tonight's menu also looks very good , or we could have a 3 course asparagus feast. Wide angle and panoramas tomorrow.

An exhibition

My friend has just finished a foundation art course and today was the public viewing of the exhibition. There were many interesting items and techniques and I really enjoyed looking round. I am going to keep an eye out for some of these people in the future and there were several techniques I wish I knew how to do.

Maldon walk

It was very breezy, making macro almost impossible, but the clouds and hulks gave a lovely moody feel. Sadly no rain, just clouds.
